Life Lessons from the Wilderness
A Sharp Turn
One thing I learned in my many years living in the wilderness; never leave home unprepared. The woods are full of twists and turns on our trail. Someone who was passing through missed a sharp turn on his snowmobile, crashing into a tree. Bruised and broken, he lay there, desperately waiting for help–unprepared for the bitter cold weather of Northern Ontario and exposed to frostbite. Always carry a first aid kit; a dry change of clothes; something to make a fire with and a wool blanket. These items may seem cumbersome or unnecessary–but could save your life.
